Fujifilm: X-Pro 1 Mirror-less Will Remain Flagship, But New Mirror-less Options Are on the Horizon
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012When I went to Fujifilm\’s booth at CES in Vegas at the end of Tuesday, I asked some of the Fujifilm representatives about the plans of the corporation\’s mirror-less line of cameras. Currently, Fujifilm only has one mirror-less camera on its team, and it\’s called the X-Pro 1. It debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show during Press Day on Monday before the floor opened on Tues..
Without confirming that his company would enhance its mirror-less options, one Fujifilm rep said that the X-Pro 1 would remain the organization's flagship mirror-less if the company were to expand its mirror-less line. In such a scenario, the company would try and compete at the prosumer and consumer price levels with these new cameras, letting the X-Pro 1 pull in the professional set.
Consequently, it could be a few years before the company improves on its top-of-the-line mirror-less camera, so don\’t expect a big brother to the X-Pro 1 camera any time soon. We bet the the new camera will lead the way for at least two years, but that\’s just speculation; don\’t quote us on that.
Fujifilm\’s X-Pro 1 is booked to launch in Feb Feb, according to the representatives at CES. We were rather impressed by the units we were allowed to handle, and it\’s larger than it looks. Still, it\’s noticeably smaller in comparison to your classic DSLR, and it\’s certainly worth your inspection if you are in the market for a professional\’s mirror-less shooter.
This bad boy will set you back less than $2,000.00 depending on currency conversion rates, and that\’s not bad considering a DSLR can cost 10x that. It\’s also more compact than your typical DSLR, though it\’s larger in person than it is in pictures. Actually, this is probably one of the few cases where the product itself looks much better in person than it does in official, touched-up photos.
