Love This – Polaroid Digital Camera Review
Friday, January 20th, 2012Consider that it is a point and shoot. I don\’t think that you can get much better for under $300.
We use them skiing, surfing, sailing as well as the usual activities. Since it was a gift, I bought the bundled memory and case with it. This camera is truly garbage. The Olympus Stylus was the only camera I owned that cracked its LCD – and it didn\’t even fall.
I have taken roughly 2000 pictures and despite sending it to an Olympus rep and reading the manual cover to cover (which I rarely ever do) I still cannot get this camera to focus properly. I actually had to buy a cheap Polaroid digital camera in Rome to salvage some pictures during a recent trip.
It is water and impact resistant 3. Picture quality is awesome 2. Well – it worked fine at the beach the first day – in the surf and on the sand – the second day we took it snorkeling – in less than 2 feet of water flashed a message saying \”Lost Connection\” – it then gave up completely. We did everything correctly, charged and loaded the battery at home – no sand, dust or obstruction to the waterproofing.
This is a handy feature I appreciate, but if I am taking fast moving action shots, this feature can be turned off in shooting menu 2, \”REC VIEW.\” Once performed in accordance with the manual, photos can be taken immediately after one another.
Anyways, I was not happy with my vacation pictures, mainly because it did not produce 100% crystal clear picture quality. It may be a good camera to give to the kids but don\’t count on this as your main camera.
In coastal regions, any non-clear water will almost ruin any pictures used with flash. Zooming doesn\’t really help for the above reasons. Maybe it just hates Guam. We have sent it back again. This camera has been dropped by a 3 year old on the concrete, used to snorkel under water, and caught some wonderful spur of the moment HD video. Let\’s just say if you have the correct setting, the photos are fantastic.
Found the digital zoom fuzzy and worthless but overall a great deal – excellent improvements over the older models and well worth the price. Before purchasing this camera I did a lot of research. Overall I would recommend it if you needed something for harsh environments as I do. I went to the Olympus website and upgraded the firmware; there was a fix for \”slow start up\” works 100% better now. I bought this camera in preparation for a cruise to the Caribbean. It was great to have a waterproof camera to take through rainforests, waterfalls, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming with turtles, etc. I gave it 4 stars because of omitted support materials. Really nice camera, I bought it for my brother in law.
I also use it in dark areas (think dusk to twilight) to focus on objects 20 feet away. Generators For Home Use.
