Digital Photography Blogs

If you’re looking for somewhere to host your digital photography blog, here are some places you can look:

Blogger.com

This is Google’s own blog system and it’s easy to set up a blog, choose the blog theme and then start posting. You can add a digital photograph easily by clicking a button on the menu bar. You then get the option of uploading a file from your computer or grabbing one from the web – this is useful if you’ve already uploaded your photo to a digital photo album like Flickr.

Wordpress.com

Although they are better known for the blog software that you can install on your own website, Wordpress also host free blogs. Like Blogger, there’s an easy process to sign up and then you can start posting away. Adding photos is slightly more complicated than Blogger, so I personally wouldn’t recommend it if you’re going to be uploading photos to your blog on a regular basis.

Tumblr.com

This blog site isn’t as well known as the first two but uploading your digital photographs is a simple matter of clicking a button and uploading a photo. Tumblr make it super simple to add a caption to your digital photos – there’s a box right underneath where you upload the photo from. They also allow you to set what they call a click-through link so that when someone clicks on your photo, they’re taken off to a web site of your choice.

Flickr.com

Whilst Flickr aren’t strictly speaking a blog site, they provide free storage space for your digital photos and you can either allow everyone to view your photos or just a select few friends and family. Flickr are owned by Yahoo, so you can be sure that they’ll be around for a long time and that your photos are safely stored.
