It’s great fun taking digital photos but sometimes you need to learn how to do some digital photography enhancements so that you can take your photos to the next level.
Here are some quick and simple ideas for enhancing your digital photos:
As always, make sure you aren’t working with the only original copy of the photo. That way you’re protected in case you or your photo editing software mess things up.
One of the easiest enhancements you can do is to boost the colors in your photos.
Most modern software allows you to work on only a small portion of your photos. Something that would have needed expert skills in the days of film is now available at the click of a mouse.
Say, for instance, you’ve taken a photo and the automatic exposure has automatically got things wrong. It happens all time. For me, it’s usually with faces - they come out darker than I’d like, so I miss the expression I wanted to capture.
Use a freehand or lasso tool to select the area of the photo you want to enhance.
Then experiment by adjusting the brightness and contrast first. Chances are these will allow you to bring out the features you wanted to and will enhance the quality of your photo. If you get it right, you’ll be able to do it without anyone knowing!
Take the time to play around with the different options on your photo editing software. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the different enhancements you can make to your photos which will take them from being “ok” or “good” to the next level up.
